“ Texas households are receiving unsolicited mailers addressed to students that offer guidance on unsupportive parents, legal emancipation, and seeking transgender-related medical care outside the state, and no one knows who sent them. The envelopes list the sender as the “Texas Transgender Student Union,” and the enclosed guide directs students to trusted adults and advocacy groups, including the Transgender Education Network of Texas, or TENT. TENT says it did not author, authorize, or distribute the mailers, or a similar text message campaign that circulated earlier this month, and it has sent cease-and-desist demands to the messaging companies involved to identify who is behind it. The mailers surfaced just as early voting began in Texas, prompting Republican State Rep. Jeff Leach to call on Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is also the GOP Senate nominee, to investigate. The Dallas Express, which first reported the mailers, said no evidence it reviewed establishes that any campaign, party, or advocacy group orchestrated the effort. The timing and the anonymous sender have raised questions about whether the mailers are a genuine outreach effort or a political stunt designed to stir controversy ahead of the election.” from Aaron Parnas newsletter
