“ Progressive streamer Hasan Piker has sued CNN commentator Scott Jennings for defamation, accusing him of falsely claiming Piker called for lynching Black Americans by airing an edited clip of his remarks. The 38-page lawsuit, filed Tuesday in federal court in Washington, centers on an Aug. 11 episode of “The Scott Jennings Show.” That episode played a clip captioned “Let’s go back to a better time when lynchings were happening,” and Jennings accused Piker of “calling for Black voters to be lynched.” According to the complaint, the original 2024 livestream showed Piker sarcastically mocking a conservative commentator by saying, “He said, ‘We need more Klansmen, OK? Can we go back to a better time when lynchings were happening?’” The edited version cut out “He said” and Piker’s laughter to make it look like his own view. Jennings used the clip to attack Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, calling Piker his “best pal and campaign partner,” in a post that has drawn about 2.5 million views. Piker’s lawyers say Jennings refused to retract the claims after receiving a written demand in August.” via Aaron Parnas newsletter
