Outlook on area of interest that is expected to merge with occluded low near Azores and bring heavy rainfall to Portugal and Spain: An area of low pressure is developing several hundred miles from Azores. The system is expected to interact with an occluded low that has been affecting the Azores through the past day or so. This system however will bring blustery conditions to the islands and rainfall as it interacts and merges with the ongoing system. Once the low has begun to merge with the occluded low, the system has a chance of becoming a mid latitude cyclone. However, there is uncertainty on wither this occurs or if the low becomes an occluded low or even a cut off low. Regardless of wither the system becomes a mid latitude cyclone. The system is expected to bring very heavy rainfall across portions of Portugal and Spain beginning Sunday and peaking Monday into Tuesday. Flooding is a hazard with this system as the system has been name by the AEMET as Bruna. Other hazards rough seas and gusty conditions will be likely. Interests in Portugal and Portions of Western Spain should complete preparations by tomorrow evening local time.
