Venus is, amongst other things, your relationships, and Scorpio asks for emotional truth. Retrograde wants you to look back and examine yourself in this respect. Relationships with a capital R are perhaps where we are least truthful, because we tend to unconsciously edit ourselves to fit the other person's needs. We surrender a part of ourselves and no longer live it. That may be OK and normal when you're younger. But it's not for grown-ups. Scorpio is not 'civilised', it does not sacrifice truth on the altar of keeping the peace as Libra does. It is more than your life is worth not to be wholly truthful about who you are with those you are close to. If that is not welcome, then they can never be close friends. When my Dad died 11 years ago, I said, "Thank God the old bastard's gone." I didn't pretend to myself I was sad. That is Scorpio. You've got to be close to yourself to be close to others, and not many people want that kind of reality. Look back on your relationships and see where you have compromised yourself. Did you overlook your initial reservation with someone? And what was the result of that? This is exactly what Venus retrograde in Scorpio wants you to do. People want tribe, community. That is natural. But you will never have it if you are truthful in your relationships, because that will take you outside the unspoken rules in any community. If you have 1 or 2 people you can be fully truthful with, you are fortunate, that is probably as good as it is going to get. You've got to get used to not being part of the herd, not being 'civilised', and not imagine there's something lacking because you're not very good at it. It's a matter of seeing and accepting realities, which Scorpio specialises in.
