PLUTO THE GREAT LEVELLER Daily Astrology Mon 7th Sept Today the Moon moves into Leo, opposing and activating Pluto in Aquarius. Aquarius is a humanitarian sign, but its Achilles heel is to place itself above the animal and the instinctual, to over-identify with its sometimes brilliant ideas. Pluto, Lord of the Underworld, deep in the earth, is the opposite. "Hypocrite!" he cries. "You shall pay for this!" Pluto brings us back to an earlier, more natural way of being, in which the body, not the head, was the main source of wisdom. Today's activation of Pluto gives a useful reflection: how much have you been taught to value being smart? There will always be people who are smarter than you. Your IQ is a gift, and there's not much you can do about it. Does it give wisdom? An animal, which is not smart in that human way, knows who it is and how to live. If you watch them, they are deliberate, they know what they are doing. That is what it means to be wild. We humans are the infants, for we are the only animal who does not know who it is. So put down your burden of having to be smart, or your burden of thinking you are less smart than others. It really doesn't matter. It matters much more that you listen to yourself, and treat others well. Aquarius is also humanity's scientific inventiveness and the idea of progress. That is another source of pride. It is a cultural norm to look down on early peoples as primitive. And the backlash is to put them on a pedestal while considering ourselves oppressors. Indigenous people are just like us, no better and no worse. Aquarius is the sign of the common man, and this is what Pluto, in his destruction of human pride, is pushing us towards. It is always the ego that Pluto is intent on destroying, and if you can yield to him, there is a sense of relief and homecoming.
