WHAT WAS THE DEEPER MEANING OF THE RESURRECTION? When Jesus cried, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” he was not speaking from joy. He was experiencing the psychology of total disconnection. In that moment, the pain was so overwhelming that his mind interpreted suffering as abandonment. That is what the human mind does. When we suffer long enough, we stop saying, “I am experiencing pain,” and begin saying, “I have been abandoned. Life is against me. God has left me. Nothing can save me.” The external pain becomes an internal story of separation. That was the psychological death. But Jesus did not remain inside that story. He expressed the pain completely. He did not repress it, deny it, or pretend to feel strong. He cried out honestly—and then moved from resistance into surrender: “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” That was the transformation. He stopped demanding that the moment look different before he would trust God again. He released his need to understand how everything would work out. He surrendered the frightened mind that believed pain meant abandonment. He could not yet see the outcome, but he chose trust anyway. That is absolute faith. Faith is not merely feeling certain when everything is going well. Faith is reaching the moment when appearances tell you that everything is lost—and refusing to let appearances determine the final meaning. Psychologically, the old Jesus—the part experiencing abandonment, fear, and separation—had to die before a completely renewed consciousness could rise. The fearful identity died. The belief in separation died. The need to control the outcome died. The story of abandonment died. And what rose in its place? Absolute trust. Absolute connection. Absolute faith. Incredible joy. That was the resurrection of his heart and consciousness: the realization that God had never abandoned him. The connection had never actually been broken. Pain had temporarily hidden the love, but it had never destroyed the love. His circumstances had not proven that he was forsaken. His pain had only created the temporary feeling that he was forsaken. Once the meaning changed, everything changed. Suffering was no longer evidence of abandonment. It became part of transformation. Death was no longer the end. It became a doorway. Uncertainty was no longer something to fear. It became the place where complete trust was born. This is the psychological meaning of resurrection. You are resurrected whenever the identity built around fear, rejection, failure, and abandonment dies—and a new identity rises from within you. You stop asking, “Why is life doing this to me?” You begin saying, “I cannot see the entire path, but I trust that I am still being carried.” You stop interpreting temporary darkness as permanent defeat. You stop requiring proof before allowing yourself to believe. You release the word “how.” Then joy returns—not because you have escaped every painful circumstance, but because your faith has become greater than your circumstances. That is an incredibly powerful joy. It is not fragile happiness. It is not pretending that pain does not exist. It is the joy of knowing that pain cannot separate you from love. Uncertainty cannot separate you from God. Darkness cannot destroy the light within you. The Resurrection shows the complete psychological journey: Pain created the feeling of separation. Honesty allowed the pain to be expressed. Surrender ended the fight for control. Faith created a new meaning. Trust restored the connection. And joy rose from what appeared to be death. That is resurrection. The moment you realize you were never abandoned. The moment your faith becomes stronger than appearances. The moment fear dies, trust rises, and your heart comes completely alive again.
