The final—and often hardest—addiction to break is the addiction to self-help content. You keep watching YouTube videos, listening to podcasts, and consuming motivational content because it feels like progress. You convince yourself that you need one more insight, one more strategy, or one more breakthrough before you begin. But consuming information is not the same as changing your life. Eventually, self-help becomes another form of avoidance. You already know enough. Close YouTube. Put down the next book. Stop preparing to start. Take action. The final stage of self-improvement is no longer needing constant self-improvement content. It’s living what you’ve already learned.
