WEEK 1 OF 52 Hi everyone. Over the past few months, I’ve had a really hard time staying productive. So to keep myself accountable, I’ll be sharing my weekly goals here every week. I’ll also share my progress towards these goals. I’ve set up software on my computer that will take a screenshot of my screen every five minutes. At the end of the week, I’ll share a folder with all my screenshots that were taken in the past week. The purpose of this is to prevent myself from procrastinating by going on social media or other websites, because I know that people will be able to see these screenshots at the end of the week. However, these screenshots will be slightly blurred for my own privacy. My daily schedule is as follows: • Work from 05:00 – 08:00 • Take an hour break • Work from 09:00 – 13:00 • Take an hour break • Work from 14:00 – 17:30 Every 55 minutes, I take a 5-minute break to stand up, stretch, etc. It’s been a while since I’ve been productive though, so I’ll ease myself back into it by working less hours and increasing the hours every week. For this first week, I’ll start at 06:00 and end at 13:00. I’ll increase the hours after this week. To share more about myself, I’m a marketing graduate currently searching for a job in the marketing field. Ideally, I would want a job in paid media marketing. Outside of my marketing career I have a strong interest in starting a board game and card game business, so that I can sell all of the games that I’ve developed. In the future, I would also like to produce very small-scale indie games. The following is a list of my goals for this week (Week 1 of 52) 1. Continue searching for a full-time job by applying to job posts on LinkedIn, Pnet and Indeed. Take the three (or more) highest priority job posts for the day, and adapt my cover letter and CV for these jobs. Outside of these three, use your general cover letter and CV, so as to not risk losing any opportunity to apply because I took too long. 2. Brainstorm methods of finding recruiters or recruitment companies to help me find a job. I’ve tried this in the past, but it didn’t result in anything. Which is why I want to brainstorm on this again. 3. I have a lot of board game concepts that are still only on paper. Take time this week to further develop a few of these concepts. After this, create multiple prototypes and do multiple playtests for each of these concepts. 4. Take time to think of any new board game ideas you have, and make a list. 5. Take time to think of any new indie game ideas you have, and make a list. These are my five goals for this week, with the first two goals being the highest priority. I’ll share an update on my progress at the end of Saturday (South African time).
