04T named Beryl. The mid latitude cyclone has continued to intensify over night and is displaying a very impressive structure. The low is yet to fully mature. But the system will do this during the course of today. The low will continue to intensify for the next 12-18 hrs. Before the low occludes and the system expands in size along with weakens. However the low will still be a strong system by the time the low reaches Southern Iceland on Friday despite the system weakening. Interests in Iceland should monitor the progress of this system. ---------------------------------------------------------- Beryl has rapidly intensified through today and an ASCAT pass revealed sustained surface winds of 55-60 kts range. Thus, gusts for this advisory are raised to hurricane forced gusts and peak gusts are set at 80 kts. The system will continue to intensify through this evening and peak through tomorrow as a powerful mid latitude cyclone. Beryl will then occlude and begin to expand in size but also weaken. As the fronts occlude some rainfall and gusty conditions are possible for the Western Portions of the UK and Rep of Ireland. However, these impacts will be minimal. Meanwhile for Iceland, large waves, heavy rains and moderate to severe gales are possible across Southern Iceland as the low landfalls into very early hours of Friday. Once over land the system will weaken rapidly and be dissipated/remnant low by the time Friday afternoon comes around.
