“ Bangladesh is battling the world’s worst measles outbreak, with more than 1,100 deaths, mostly young children. The WHO says the country has reported 202,000 suspected cases since mid-March, and 94% of the 1,147 deaths have been children under 5. Bangladesh was once a vaccination success story, but political turmoil in 2024 disrupted its immunization program, and first-dose coverage fell to 90% in 2025, below the 95% needed to prevent outbreaks. A Reuters review found the government’s emergency vaccination campaign missed millions of children, relied on flawed data, and skipped standard readiness checks to move quickly. Families in hard-hit areas told Reuters that health workers arrived only after their children had died. Experts call it a real warning to every country as vaccine hesitancy rises globally, including in the U.S. under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.” From Aaron Parnas newsletter
