“Texas has been considering selling Boca Chica State Park to Elon Musk’s SpaceX, and the sale was set to come up two days after the election, according to Texas Monthly. A draft agenda shows the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission, whose members were all appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott, planned to discuss selling “1,300 acres” in Cameron County in a closed-door session on Nov. 5. Two sources told Texas Monthly that SpaceX is the buyer and that the land is the beachfront state park next to Musk’s Starbase site near Brownsville. After Texas Monthly asked about it, a department spokesperson said the commission “is not considering the sale of the Boca Chica property at its November meeting,” but sources said it could come up at a later date. The news comes as Musk pours $158 million into Ken Paxton’s Senate campaign, while his super PAC attacks Abbott’s Democratic opponent, Gina Hinojosa, who is within striking distance in the polls. “It stinks,” said Luke Metzger of Environment Texas, warning that the park is home to endangered species like the ocelot and is among “the most sensitive” land in the entire state.” From Aaron Parnas newsletter
