Public Citizen sues to stop Trump self aggrandizing arch. “ We have a major update on our lawsuit to stop Donald Trump’s vanity arch. As you probably know, Trump wants to erect a huge arch in Washington, D.C. — just outside the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery, across from the Lincoln Memorial — to glorify himself. Earlier this year, Public Citizen — representing Vietnam War veterans and others — filed a lawsuit in federal court to stop construction of the arch. To be very clear, starting construction would be patently illegal. Building a monument like this requires approval from Congress, and Congress has not authorized it. Nevertheless, on October 21, the Trump regime indicated that it might begin construction as soon as next week. The very next day, October 22, we filed a motion for a preliminary injunction asking the court to stop construction from starting while our case goes forward. We asked the court to rule on our motion by November 4. Meanwhile, we are gearing up to respond if construction begins in violation of the law or contrary to the court’s orders. This is just one of the 54 lawsuits (and counting) that Public Citizen has filed against the administration since Donald Trump returned to power. If you can, please donate today to support Public Citizen as we continue standing up to the Trump regime. Anything you can chip in — $5 or $25, $50 or $100, $500 or even more — will make a difference right now.
