Tubervlle gets a ton of free/subsidized benefits/perks being a member of Congress, which he doesn't need or can afford to pay for on his own, but others get things they need to survive, and they are getting a handout? Pot to kettle, call on line 2. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) says govt spending needs big cuts: “People that are sitting around at home, watching ‘The View’ on television, getting SNAP cards, food stamps, and on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid—that’s got to be over with. Our country is not gonna make it. We cannot afford for that to happen, and President Trump is all about that. That’s what the House is pushing very hard.” Here's a breakdown of some of the key benefits and perks available to members of Congress: 1. Health Insurance: Members of Congress are required to purchase health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) exchanges. They receive a federal subsidy that covers a significant portion of their premiums, according to Axios. 2. Retirement Benefits: Pension: Members of Congress are eligible for a pension plan, with the benefit amount depending on their age, years of service, and salary. Social Security: Participation in Social Security is mandatory for all members of Congress. Thrift Savings Plan (TSP): Members can participate in the TSP, a retirement savings plan similar to a 401(k). 3. Allowances and Expense Reimbursements: Members' Representational Allowance (MRA): Representatives receive an allowance to cover official expenses like staff salaries, office expenses, and travel. Senators' Official Personnel and Office Expense Account (SOPOEA): Senators receive a similar allowance to cover official expenses. 4. Travel and Parking: Free Parking: Members of Congress have access to free and reserved parking spots at DC-area airports. Flight Benefits: Airlines often provide dedicated customer service lines and flexible booking options for members of Congress. 5. Other Perks: Gym: Members have access to a gym at the Capitol, potentially with subsidized or free membership. Dining: Access to House and Senate dining rooms. The hypocrisy here is God tier. We can afford 3.2 million dollar gold trips for the President. The President and his cabinet going on personal trips and attending pro sports events on the government's dime. 6-figure salaries for DOGE members who are supposed to be saving us money? More spending for the current administration than Biden at this same point. Again, Where The Fuck is DOGE? Continued subsidies to a billionaire's companies, both of which are turning huge profits, and they don't need them anymore. Those SNAP cards, food stamps, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits are not the problem. Billionaire's getting larger tax breaks while not paying their fair share of taxes is the problem. MAGA Republican's using Trump's bullshit budget plan to kill/destroy the above mentioned benefits is the problem. Republicans have been highly motivated to kill these things for a long time, regardless of those who will suffer and go without. The mid-terms in 2026 couldn't come any sooner...
