Daily thoughts #15 Deck submission in a week. 💪 Reanimator is definitely good vs Lessons, and quite likely bad against green decks. I will play a set against team member who views the green matchup more positively. We will see what I'm missing. Bant Airbending feels decent, and a deck I want to work on more. So far target tested only against Lessons. You're a bit behind but it's not hopeless. Formidable Speaker is sweet in this deck as you can airbend it and tutor a combo piece. I'd say it's better than in the renimator deck, and could definitely see it in UG Cub as well. The deck is super hard for me to play, but twitch chat has been coaching me well. The US RC is this weekend, so I wanted to give my thoughts on the format a bit. So before Lorwyn came out, I think it was clear the top 3 decks were Landfall, Lessons and UG Cub. Out of this triangle, Landfall has the worst matchup spread against the other two. Therefore I'd expect Cub and Lessons to be at the top of the field. WIth Lorwyn, I think 2 major decks get improvements - Reanimator and Bant Airbending. Reanimator feels good vs Lessons (only deck that does btw) and bad against Landfall / Cub. Bant is medium vs Lessons, and I am not sure how the green matchup goes exactly (guessing even vs Cub and ahead vs Landfall). Therefore, I believe Green decks should push out Reanimators since they're a big part of the field. I would still likely play Lessons as I view it as the best deck into Green decks. Couple unresolved questions / things to do: - Is UB now playable with Spell Snare, Requiting Hex and Flitterwing Nuisance? - Am I wrong on the Reanimator vs Green matchup? (to be done tomorrow) - How is Bant into green decks? - Could Jeskai improve it's Lessons matchup by playing Spell Snare? Is it good vs Reanimator / Bant? - Is Landfall good? Sapling Nursery seems nice, could the hybrid version I like be good (need to target test that) - Am I missing anything? Kona with JED maybe, Pixie? I have 5 days to find a deck. Currently leaning Lessons still. It also might be pointless, because I don't know to win a draft match to save my life 😭
