5-6 The Proto-Semitic ‘theta’ *θ had evolved in Arabic most likely through Old North and Old South Arabian; taking also into consideration that also the older varieties of Aramaic had the*θ, and both Aramaic and Classical Hebrew had developed lenition of the [t] into [θ], too. The name ‘Uthman’ also predates Islam, even in the Arabian Peninsula, the name existed before Islam even evolved - the earliest ‘recorded’ evidence of the name in this region would be Uthman ibn Affan who was born either in 573 or 576 CE [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uthman ] and ʿUthmān ibn Maẓʿūn, with unconfirmed date of birth, but most likely born somewhat between 590-600 CE [https://journals.library.columbia.edu/index.php/alusur/article/download/7036/3771 ] & [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uthman_ibn_Maz%27un ]. Thus, this name ended up in other languages in the Middle East, for instance in Turkish, only after the Islamic expansion, but before this you will find only ‘Adam’ and its variations in most of the languages of the world; and the earliest demonstrated record of the name in the Semitic langauages is attributed to the Assyrian king ‘Adamu‘ 2400–2375 BCE [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adamu_(Assyrian_king) ]; which is also attributed to be derived from ‘Atum’ [Starting from 3100 BCE; https://www.eoht.info/page/Heliopolis%20creation%20myth ].
