An introduction to Drax; Background: Balerion, Meraxes and Vhagar were the three main dragons at the time of Drax's conception and not long before Visenya had claimed Vhagar, the she-dragon had laid a clutch of five eggs, he was part of the five on Dragonmont where she had made her home. Leaving them unattended once she was claimed, however the eggs were discovered not long after and they were taken to be incubated, mixed in with Meraxes’ eggs. At the time dragons eggs took much longer to hatch than the ones now, reasons to this day were unknown. It actually took a few turns of the moon for his black egg to hatch, in fact he was being considered not viable because of how long it was taking him; the others that were discovered alongside his had since hatched. It was there at Dragonstone that Drax called home and although the other Targaryen children at the time had their respective dragons, he and the others were well cared for by the keepers that resided there. He was trained by the said keepers to learn to obey commands and other essential training. Eventually once he mastered his training and was of a rideable size, he was able to get fitted for a saddle in case he needed to be claimed. At the time Aegon’s conquest of the Kingdoms was taking place, there were bound to be deaths and births and they would eventually be claimed. During part of Maegor the Cruel's reign Drax had gone into seclusion after fleeing King’s Landing sometime before the king had those who helped build the Red Keep killed and had often flown and lived between the ruins of Valyria and Dragonstone. He also refused to have a rider as he spent this long without one. Oftentimes than not when he would be resting in caves or out in the open, people would be stupid enough to try and mount him but he would immediately send them to their deaths; he also deemed those who had tried to be absolutely unworthy of him and his loyalty; dragons are loyal to a fault to their riders until death and refuse to harm the ones they are bonded to. Drax had spent enough time educating himself, reading and learning things on his own once he learned to read. If he would be around Dragonstone, he'd have the maester there teach him to read and educate him. Because he didn't know who his parents were, he started to piece together his parentage little at a time on his own. Hearing people shout that he's Balerion reincarnated when he would fly about, it was slowly clicking. He's pretty confident that the infamous Balerion was his father and Vhagar is his mother since he can't help but shake a familial feeling in regards to her. He has seen quite a few wars transpire and end and has lived through many Targaryen kings rule so far, such as Aegon the Conqueror, Maegor the Cruel, Jaehaerys the Conciliator and his good Queen Alysanne to Viserys I Targaryen and the current Aegon Targaryen, the usurper and Queen Rhaenyra's half-brother. Partners: His first mate was probably one of Meraxes hatchlings as she mirrored her mother in terms of scale coloration. She was a beautiful silver dragon with jade colored eyes. He had spent quite a bit of time with her in Dragonmont as they bonded fairly quickly. They were together for quite some time and they both were shape shifters, something he learned he was after some time. She was very intelligent, could hold her own and was funny, which he absolutely loved about her. They would often fly around Dragonstone together since they were not bound by any rider; he doted on her in human and dragon form by hunting for her, doing little things to make her smile and keep her happy and pleased. This was the first time that he fell in love. The pair were in talks of starting their own family together, be it by having hatchlings or having a human child or two; sadly it never came to fruition as she was killed by an unfortunate accident. To say that he loved her very much was an understatement and he was so heartbroken. He absolutely refused to bond and love another.. until he found Princess Visenya, Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen’s daughter some decades later.
