DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS? ================================================= "“We keep our nuclear weapons underground in silos. All over the northern plains states, we have these in silos in Montana, Wyoming, and North Dakota. A lot of them were built in that Cold War relic. They were put there as the fastest route to the old Soviet Union. Those ICBM silos were built in the 1960s, and they are still there, still functioning. If you are going to decide to do that, one thing you cannot do is let them fall into disrepair. These are real, live weapons that need upkeep and modernization. A few months ago, there was a review of these decades-old silos, and at the end of that review, the Air Force reported that we need to dig all new silos for our nuclear missiles. Those silos are leaking, crumbling, and are no place to keep nuclear weapons and the crews that maintain them. If that sounds expensive, you are right. If we're going to have the nukes, we have to update and maintain them to keep them safe. We can all agree on that. Well, President Donald Trump is now robbing the Ground-Based Missiles and Modernization budget for himself. 934 million dollars was transferred to a classified, unnamed project.” Source-Rachel Maddow(Condensed version of Monday's program)(YouTube). ================================================ The New York Times was a prominent outlet that reported on the transfer of $934 million from the Sentinel ICBM program to an unnamed, classified project, which was later widely reported to be the renovation of the gifted Boeing 747 for potential use as Air Force One. Following the New York Times' initial reporting in late July 2025, other news organizations quickly picked up the story and provided further details and analysis. These include: Yahoo News (which also cited the New York Times report) eTurboNews Defense One AVweb Defense News Flying Magazine Air & Space Forces Magazine Militarnyi Daily Kos Breaking Defense (which had previously reported on draft documents indicating a potential cut of over $1 billion from Sentinel and transfers to classified programs and the VC-25B effort in May 2025) These reports often cited unnamed Air Force sources, congressional officials, and Air Force Secretary Troy Meink's statements during congressional hearings, where he acknowledged that some funds were moved from the Sentinel ICBM project. We need to call our Senators and inform them that this is unacceptable for the security of our country.
