I had a dream last night that I can only think to describe as "impactful." I was part of this traveling group that arrived in a port town at night. The town looked like the type of fantasy settlement you'd describe in a D&D campaign. We were there to retrieve something that would help someone else. There was a bit of a commotion, then the sound of fireworks. Thus, I looked up. Less than a hundred feet above the ground flew a five-headed golden dragon. She must have been at least fifty feet long, and her iridescent scales danced with the light of the fireworks surrounding her. She flew in almost complete silence, causing no distress as she gently glided above the crowd. She was beautiful. I couldn't help but repeat the phrase "Oh my God," trembling in awe as I fell to my knees. Shortly after, she landed on the docks next to us as though she were light as air. I couldn't bear to meet her gaze. While I was still muttering to myself like a fool, she made a comment with one, or perhaps all of her heads, saying something along the lines of "It seems the mortals are behaving strangely today." I felt ashamed. Thankfully, one of my traveling companions spoke up, though I don't know whom, since my gaze was firmly fixed to the planks at my feet. "Please help us," a voice said. "We are troubled with thoughts of home." Intuitively, the dragon knew exactly what we needed. She wordlessly offered her arm to a companion that approached her with a syringe, allowing them to draw blood from her veins. As her blood was being drawn, I felt a strange sensation and looked down at my own arm. It felt like my blood was also being drawn, as though I was seeing through her eyes or synchronized with her senses in some way. The sensation was over once my companion finished drawing blood. The dragon spoke once more, though I can't exactly recall her words. She spoke of the port town's mythological figure, the Choking Lady, who I surmised was related to the statue in the town depicting a woman with crossed arms holding both hands to her throat. There was some secret related to this figure, perhaps the statue itself, related to a forgotten or forbidden name of sorts. As the dragon provided these details, I had a vision where I was standing in front of the statue before realizing the ground below me had disappeared, and I was plunged deep under the water. Instead of drowning, I found myself in a sewer or cistern beneath the town. I believe the dragon was telling us where the our next destination could be found. With that, the dragon flew off into the night. The last thing I remember before waking up was feeling absolutely heart-broken once I realized she had gone.
