“The man ICE said it was hunting when one of its agents ran over a man in Houston has been dead since 2017, according to his family. ICE said its agents were trying to arrest “Jose Mendoza-Cervantes” on Oct. 10 when an agent struck 48-year-old Miguel Parra Hernández with an SUV, breaking his leg. ICE then released a “wanted” photo of the man it was looking for, but his daughter said it was actually her father, José Hector Jiménez Mendoza, who died in 2017 while trying to enter the U.S., and the family has shared his death certificate. “Either someone is not telling the truth or, all of a sudden, the two ICE agents have developed a sixth sense and are able to see dead people,” said Cesar Espinosa of the immigrant rights group FIEL Houston. Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare says it’s “pretty obvious” from video that ICE hit Parra on purpose, and he is investigating a possible aggravated assault charge that could go to a grand jury next week. The agent who was driving has been placed on leave, and ICE has called claims that the hit was intentional “RECKLESS and FALSE.” From Aaron Parnas newsletter
