Day 8 of our Pyrenees tour: In a word? "HOT!!!"🔥😎😅🥵 We started at 18°C ​​from our hotel in Cadéac, but temperatures climbed to 40°C as we rode along the rocky mountain passes on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees; it was simply too much—even the wind from riding didn't cool us down.🫣🥵 But hey—only the tough make the cut, and we aren't here just for fun... 🤣 Our route took us through the Aragnouet-Bielsa road tunnel. Controlled by traffic lights, it runs for about 3 kilometers, descending from the north portal in France (at an elevation of approx. 1,821–1,825 meters) to the south portal in Spain (approx. 1,664–1,675 meters). After a quick detour to the lake at Bielsa—offering a magnificent mountain panorama—we continued along a tiny country road (off-limits to trucks and motorhomes) via Puértolas and Fanlo. We wouldn't find out until later why larger vehicles were banned there (the map didn't reveal it at a quick glance... 🫣🫣😉). The surprise of the day: the Cañón de Añisclo, a spectacular gorge about ten kilometers long within Spain's Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park. The speed limit was 30 km/h—if you're wondering why, drive the route yourself... or just look at the photos... 🫣😉🤣. We discovered that Monte Perdido National Park had even more to offer after exiting the gorge on our way through Fanlo, including a nice snack break in Buerba—a charming mountain village with the vibe of "Villariba" (an inside joke 🤣). The descent from Buerba down to Escalona via the mountain road was "adventurous"... 🫣🤣. Continuing via Fiscal, with a quick refueling stop 🥤 in Biescas (did I mention the day felt like a furnace… 😅?!). From Biescas, we took a wildly winding 37 km route—tunnels included—to Jaca, where we’re spending the night. Daily mileage: Approx. 220–250 km in temperatures up to 40°C—that’s enough for today… 🫣🥵🤔😉
