Read this. I urge anyone reading this to urge your admins and group members to join MoveOn as a partner to support the March 28th NO KINGS protest. History is on our side. This is HUGE: On March 28, millions of Americans will rise up for the next No Kings Day of nonviolent action, demonstration, and protest. The flagship event will be in Minneapolis—the heart of the movement against ICE and fascism, where Minnesotans are rising up in resistance after federal agents killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti. MoveOn, hundreds of partners, and thousands of volunteers are actively planning a massive surge of protests, with millions of Americans across the country taking to the streets. It is poised to be the largest day of protest in U.S. history. But bringing together millions of Americans in cities and towns nationwide takes significant resources. We need to train thousands of local organizers, provide materials for protests, ensure safety and security, coordinate across all 50 states, and ensure the protests are covered everywhere in the media. Safety is nonnegotiable. As part of MoveOn’s leadership in organizing No Kings mobilizations, our team works to ensure that every single event host receives training in nonviolence and de-escalation. Our volunteer team works 1-on-1 with event hosts to provide individual support based on their needs. We provide comprehensive toolkits and trainings, offer office hours to support preparation, and run host hotlines on protest days for emergency support. Safety planning and de-escalation training isn't glamorous work, but it's what keeps millions of Americans safe in the streets. And it works. Hosts reported back in October that scenario planning made them ready for the real situations they were faced with on the ground. This work is extremely resource-intensive. And without the funding to scale up our organizing, we risk losing momentum at the very moment when millions of Americans are ready to act. We can't let that happen. This may be the last protest if Trump has his way.
