Why do some people feel nothing when they visualize getting everything they want? Maybe because they’re picturing something they don’t actually want. They think they’re supposed to want the mansion, the status, the perfect life someone else described. But when they close their eyes and imagine having it, there’s no feeling there. That’s worth paying attention to. Ask yourself: If nobody saw me achieve this, would I still want it? What part of this future would make my actual life better? There’s another possibility: you do want it, but you can’t see a path from where you are now to that future. The image feels so far away that your mind won’t engage with it. So bring it closer. Don’t force yourself to picture “having everything.” Picture the next change you can genuinely imagine: your first client, one honest conversation, a month where you’ve kept a promise to yourself. Make it specific enough that you can see yourself there. And don’t treat a lack of emotion as a verdict. Get curious about it. Are you chasing someone else’s dream? Is the scene too vague? Is it too distant to feel real yet? Find what you truly want. Then give yourself a picture you can connect with—and a step you can take toward it today.
