An email from a very long time friend in Texas: Happy, happy day! Hello Suzette! I hope you are doing well. Honestly I was not sure I would live long enough to see what happened yesterday. Texas went BLUE, impressively, emphatically Democratic. I'm hopeful and a bit terrified at the same time. We have a lot of really angry Republicans who are still fully in the palm of all the propaganda they have swallowed over the years. And that's a dangerous thing. But this morning there is hope. This morning Texas has elected a Democratic, Latina Governor. This morning Texas has been engulfed in a very BLUE wave. This evening I will once again write my current "representatives" and urge them to do the best thing they can actually do for their party... Stop supporting the insanity. Hold T accountable. They have nothing to lose. And T has nothing to offer them. Texas and her 40 electoral votes are hanging there for us to grab. We just need to be diligent. ((Hugs)) This is why I stayed. Luray (SHE was the first person who took me to task for bashing Texas, many years ago, telling me that liberals who had generational roots there deserved our support, not our criticism. I am so thrilled for her and everyone else like her, and for the VOTERS who made the difference! Now, I hope the Democrats they elected make them all VERY PROUD!)
