The average people of the time, with their varying backgrounds and skills, became the driving force behind the Patriot cause. They were not content to sit idly by while their rights were trampled upon. Instead, they took action, joining forces with like-minded men to make a difference. They began to fascitize. One of the ways in which they made their voices heard was through boycotts. These everyday citizens refused to support British goods, setting fires, and dumping shipments of tea into harbors. They sent a powerful message that they would not tolerate oppression.
