Why am I the leader? Because I’ll take the blame. I’ll take responsibility. If everything goes right, the people beside me deserve the credit. If everything goes wrong, I will answer for it. If I make the wrong decision, I won’t hide. I won’t make excuses. I won’t blame the circumstances, betray my people, or rewrite history to protect my ego. I will say: “I made the decision. I led us in the wrong direction. This is on me.” And then I will do everything in my power to make it right. That is leadership. Everybody wants authority when the mission succeeds. Very few people want responsibility when it fails. I want both. If I ask people to trust my judgment, I must also accept the consequences of that judgment. If they take a risk because they believe in me, then I owe them honesty, loyalty, and accountability. I’ll take the pressure. I’ll take the criticism. I’ll take the fall. Not because I believe I’m incapable of making mistakes, but because I refuse to make other people pay for my ego. A leader does not use people as shields. A leader becomes the shield. That is why I’m the leader.
