A Democrat that I talked to on FB blamed leftists for Trump's win and stated that we leftists were "happy with the outcome". Here is my response. Your party's mantra and the Blue MAGA's mantra of "vote blue no matter who" is what got us "where we are". Colin Allred, at the time, touted as a "rising star" in the Democratic party by the leadership and Rafael Cruz's opponent in the Texas Senate race, spouted transphobic hatred (and so have other Democrats). So, if someone or someone they love lives in Texas is trans, who do they vote for? The Republican who wants to take away their rights? Or the Democrat who wants to take away their rights? 81 Democrats voted for the NDAA, despite the transphobic garbage added to it. When asked, many top Democrats said that they 'lamented their vote' but that if the vote came up again, 'they'd vote the same way'. So, no, they DIDNT'T "lament their vote". I've been following politics in this country for literally half a century. Every election since about when I started in earnest, circa 1980, Democrats would see Republicans get a few more 'independent' votes and even some blue-dog Democratic votes. So the Democrats would go further right. The Republicans, seeing that, would go even FURTHER to the right. Rinse, repeat for every election. Nobody "got what they wanted on the left". The Democrats are responsible for it. You got "pro-life" Democrats. You got anti-trans Democrats. You got "strong on the border" Democrats. You got "afraid to complain about police brutality because they'll be seen as "weak on crime" and they won't get elected" Democrats. You got anti-DEI Democrats. You got anti-marriage-equality Democrats. You got sucking up to Trump Democrats. Democrats not only aren't "left", they aren't even Democrats at all. The majority of Democrats today would be Republicans 30 years ago. "Obamacare" was "Dolecare", back when Dole was running for President. A lot of people didn't vote because the Democrats sold this country down the river decades ago. That sucks ass. I voted for Harris and I stumped for Harris. And I'd do it again. Not just because I knew what would be coming if she didn't win. But because I agreed with a majority of the stances she took. It would have helped a lot of people in this country. There was a lot of hope at that time among her supporters and I was/am one of them. But to a small extent, though I don't agree with them, I can understand the non-voters. Because the Democrats over time got what they wanted, a party almost indistinguishable from the Republicans. Because they didn't want to lose votes, power. The top five (in terms of length in office) Democrats, including Schumer, Pelosi, and Hoyer, have a combined total of 207 years in Congress. Just those five alone. Democrats voted to censure Al Green. Democrats helped create the worst (conservative) border bill in decades. Democrats voted to curb free speech by making any non-profit that Trump's administration didn't like, available to be claimed "promoting terrorism" and, at the very least, have their 501c statuses yanked. The Democratic leadership got what they wanted, a party that is almost indistinguishable from the Republicans. Both parties have raging racists. Both parties have raging misogynists. Both parties have raging queerphobes. Both parties cater to the elite. While Bernie and AOC are talking to real people and while Jasmine Crockett is trying to hold people accountable, Hakeem Jeffries held a talk with 150 tech company CEOs. Very few leftists "happy with this outcome". Democrats just want to blame us and not want to accept responsibility for what your party has done and has become in the last 40 years. The top nine Democrats (in terms of length of service) that are serving CURRENTLY have a total of 324 years in Congress. 324 years. 9 people. And that only includes the ones serving 50 years or more, not 45, not 30. Those 9 people started in Congress before Reagan got elected the first time. The Democratic leadership/old guard is interested in nothing but being in power and staying in power. So maybe look to your own party for "why we're here". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_members_of_the_United_States_Congress_by_longevity_of_service
