So, to begin, what's most apparent that is of issue with your artwork is the shading, There seems to be a clear lack of understanding, see the wings, the highlights appear as though two lights are being shone on their sides. Alongside this the form shadows of the dragon are very muddled, and once more, do not show any clear light direction. Simply drawing will not get you progress, what you need to do is dedicated practice, I'll give an analogy why it's important, picture a mathemetician, they don't just add 1+5 or do other simple equations for their entire career and expect that it'll somehow make them grasp algebra, they learn, they study, they practice. And this is just as important for the artist, the most fundamental skill you must not only hone, but apply is observation. And luckily there's a wealth of art in your niche, look at any artist you aspire to, and observe their piece, start with simple shapes, blocking out major forms (Torso, Head. Legs) and move on, analyze, and identify, what makes their art look good. For you to draw better you need to know what things truly look like, and it's clear that you're visual library (The mental imprint of observation) is lacking. If you have the money, you can sign up for new masters academy, they are an excellent resource on learning art, and provide high quality video courses, with assignments. Even if you can't sign up with them, just 30 minutes a day of practice with the intention of improving, will build up over time, maybe for 6 month you do 30 minutes a day of observational drawing, (It's important to study what you area's you're weak in.) and then moving upward in 5 minute increments each week until you reach 2 hours a day will lead you to seeing great progress. Of course, you don't have to do the 2 hours at once, 30 minute sessions with 10 minute breaks would give you the same value, as long as your practice is focused, FOCUSED. I'm not the best resource on these things, I'm still working on my art myself, but if I can help anyone from a slump where they don't know what to do I'll try to help. On youtube, for free you can look up Marc Brunet, he has a breadth of videos that are both more in depth and more concise then my post. While I know this is another tangent, it's crucial I mention this, do not draw with symbols, by this I do not mean letters, but the simple images the brain creates that it thinks represent the true object, think a doodle of an eye, just an almond shape and a circle, that is an example of someone drawing a symbol, what they think the thing is, rather then what it truly is. It seems like this is what you've done in your piece, specifically with the hands, there's no real rhyme or reason to them. Also the background is of poor detail, it would help to (digitally or physically) do a study on clouds, I suppose this would have been a more appropriate example of symbol drawing, but it's clear that they were drawn with no understanding of how clouds truly work, and to build that understanding, or understanding of anything, you must observe it, and find a way to transfer it's real life form, into the drawn medium. To summarize: 1. Studying is the act of drawing from observation, with focus and with intention to improve 2. Avoid Symbol drawing (Symbol drawing being, what the brain thinks a thing looks like, rather then it's true image.) 3. Observe and study artists you aspire to, find weakpoints in your art, and do a study on their true form (IE studying how scales react with light.) 4. Marc Brunet and other online art professionals are great resources for learning about what to do, and not to do. 5. Slowly amp up your practice time, start with 30 minutes (or less if you have trouble.) and when the DAILY habit is established, gradually increase time, for example, adding 10 minutes every two weeks to your practice sessions. I really do want you to ask questions, be it from me or others, there are many artists who stagnate and if I can help one not to, I'd be very pleased to do so, so if you need more info, just ask.
