Daily thoughts #9 Bit of a shorter recap today as I'm trying to quit caffeine, and have a terrible headache. 😂 I tried two decks on the stream today - BG Ouroboroid and Bant Airbending. The BG deck felt solid. It's hard for me to discern where its strenght lies compared to its blue cousin. The mirror is kinda the same, the broken cards are the green ones. Finding an edge in mirrors will most likely be crucial. My idea is that you can use the 1cc black removal spells to break serve. However, we probably have to wait for Lorwyn to come out for Overgrown Tomb. Overlord and Riddler feel comparable. While Riddler is good with mulligans, Overlord helps dig for extra copies of Cub / mills Rhythm, which provides a decent amount of value. Overall, the deck is solid, and in the running for my top pick in the Standard. Probably better against Lessons as well, because of Duress. The Bant Airbending deck is strong, unfortunately the manabase is unplayable. I'd guess this deck will heavily improve with Lorwyn. Haven't been all that impressed with the 4 mana artifact, but I played ~5 games. Definitely a deck to keep in mind once the manabase improves but right now this deck seems medium. Will try couple more decks from Spotlight in the early stream tomorrow, and I'll probably draft in the Early Access.
