(bingqiu + jiang cheng) AU where Madam Yu has connections to Xian Shu peak at CQS and wanting to get her son a boost up sends JC to CQS as an exchange student where there he meets long married Bingqiu A year before jc and wwx are sent to cloud recess Yzy is getting fed up w/ how little Jfm cares abt jc’s education and his snubbing of opportunities for their son, and she vents off her frustrations in a letter to one of her old friends and hopes to gleam some advice. To her surprise, she gets a response that why not send jc to CQS so he can have a different environment to cultivate and hopefully boost him up? Yzy of course agrees, and sends her son packing for the summer. Jc is lukewarm to all this. Sure it would be jarring not to be w/ his jiejie or wwx for a while, but hopefully he can make the best of it and learn valuable things. He’s told that the sect is split up into different areas of study and each lord is a master of such. He hears many tales about them, one being that apparently married to a demon emperor, so surely there’s value to be learned from coming here. When jc arrives he moves around to each peak learning abt its speciality for a number of days before switching. He learns a lot of beast taming and sword spirits, how to better dual others and delegate as a leader, then one day he’s finally sent to QJ to study. Jc already kinda meet Sqq when he first arrived when some peak lords came to great him, Sqq being one of them, but this time he’s able to more officially meet Sqq and is very surprised out how Sqq treats him. Sqq is very dedicated teaching his disciples and doesn’t stifle any sort of learning— yet as soon as jc stepped foot on QJ it seems as if for him it is x10 more in teaching and guiding him in his studies. For Sqq, he learned thru Qqq of the challenges he has at home and why he was sent here and feeling sympathetic, wanted to help out with his studies. As soon as jc starts his time at QJ Sqq is always going out of his way to instruct him and give him material that could be beneficial to his studies, even when jc’s time is not on QJ. Sqq honestly starts to love instructing disciple jc b/c of how dedicated he is to his work and how fast he improves, plus jc has his own knowledge he supplies Sqq about water ghouls and the like that enthralls Sqq. Sqq hasn’t had a disciple like this in some time and starts to go out of his way to be available anytime jc might need help, even if it’s not a subject involving his peak, and provide positive reinforcement to the teen at anytime. Soon jc takes to him like a duck to water, feeling supported and taken seriously by this peak lord, and Sqq subconsciously encourages this more. Of course his husband Lbh takes notice of this. Lbh doesn’t rlly think twice abt jc’s appearance on CQS, just another disciple on the peak to him, but he gets intrigued when he catches on how indulgent his Shizun is with this new disciple. He decides to watch from a far to gather info about this boy then confront him up close when he wants more personal details, and when the day does come when Lbh corners him behind a building on QJ, he's very surprised how jc responds to him. Jc has known abt Lbh since he first visited QJ. With how often Sqq talks about his filial disciple and all the accomplishments he has, jc became intrigued himself abt what kind of man could obtain such a peak lord's affections. He's been wanting to talk to Lbh himself, so when Lbh corners him one day, practically forcing him to rest his back against a wall, jc looks up to him and asks if "Luo-Shifu" could help instruct him. Surprised, Lbh listens to how jc got to know him and has been curious abt Sqq most esteemed disciple and wondered if he could be instructed by the same man. A bit dumbfounded, Lbh agrees, so now not only is Sqq lending a hand in his studies, Lbh is near constantly trailing behind him to "teach him better" than the other peak lords he's getting instructed from. Jc learns many new things from bingqiu alone and learns of their shared history, of how they both stopped a realm merger and all the explorations they've been on since, and every day he improves his cultivation and knowledge and gets praised for it. For the rest of the summer its like this, practically jc spending all his time at QJ with the couple. Jc feels alive and so happy to be around ppl/the couple who encourage his growth and doesn't put him down. He's honestly reluctant to leave by the end of it, but when Sqq offers that jc can write to them until he can come back nxt summer, he agrees and heads home feeling x10 lighter. Everyone can see the change in jc when he returns, he's more confident, stronger, and educated in different matters than he was before. They're also endlessly curious about this "Shen-Shifu" and "Luo-Shifu" he keeps bringing up and writing to as time goes on. He talks about all the things they've instructed him on, yet is very protective of the letters he has with them. Even wwx tries sneaking around to get a peak of the letters and promptly gets caught. With every month that pass jc looks more and more forward to visiting CQS again to see his shifus again, yet when gusu sends an invitation to him and wwx to study at CR the next year, he can't refuse. Sad, he tells Sqq and Lbh that he can't come this summer, but they assure him that it's fine and they'll see him the next year. Even at CR, jc constantly sends letters about his life, how he's improving, how their teachings makes him stand out amongst his peers, and how much he wants to visit them again. Their words are a balm when wwx acts out and gets kicked out of CR, when jfm ignores him for wwx even after, when his mother continues her harsh demands of him, and he holds onto the hope in seeing bingqiu again. It's too his surprise when his studies at CR ends that apparently Bingqiu was able to convince his parents for him to visit QJ for a month after his time at CR and ecstatically goes to visit, serving his shifus and telling them all he's improved and asking for personal instruction before he has to leave again. Now my knowledge is a little finicky, ik there's the sects meeting/competition then the wens invitation, and that all happens still, but jc is able to visit bingqiu one last time before things turn more sour with the wens and promises to reach out to bingqiu should anything happen, then lotus pier is under fire. And Bingqiu doesn't learn about it until its too late.
