Each morning, I take a long wander, as I call it, in the local park here in Washington State to clear my head and burn a few calories. As a result, I've encountered a few of the local dogs and their humans, and I enjoy writing about the resulting funny or frankly weird experiences. Dogs are weirder than you might realize. Take, for example, Davy the Chihuahua, a tan five-pound psycho who seems to believe chasing Canada Geese is his personal Call of Duty. If you've ever got on the bad side of a Canada Goose (Not that they have a good side) then you understand how insane Davy is. His human, who likes to fish, has him clear river banks of any geese so he can cast his line without having to worry about being attacked by a pissed-off goose. "Hey, Davy," I greeted as I came upon him in the park the other day. "What the hell are you wearing?" The dog had been stuffed into a rosy pink knitted coat with round ears. Davy looked thoroughly disgusted. He glared up at me as if daring me to laugh. "Don't you look adorable?" I cooed while laughing. He turned his back to me. "Yeah, my wife made that coat for him," his human said as he walked up. "He hates it. He keeps trying to hide it at home. I don't blame him. He has a reputation to keep." I heard Davy's buzzing growl. "I get it, Davy. The coat is killing your vibe. Think of it as being undercover! The geese won't see you coming." They'd probably be laughing too hard to see him, but I didn't add that. "Come on, Davy." His human started toward the nearby river. "Try not to get stuck in the blackberry vines this time." Davy yapped and grumbled as he trudged after him through the grass. I won't tell him how the round ears on the coat bobbed all cute and perky as he walked. No need to sink the knife deeper into his pride.
