@greensburgind @GreensburgDaily @DowntownGbg @wtreradio @visitgreensburg @decaturcountyindiana @DCMHhospital "Impeach/Remove Beverly Rivera as Trustee" images, along with the screen grabs of her unprofessional, unethical, immoral post marginalizing the poor in Greensburg. Download and share all of it. She'll be forced to remove the actual post soon anyway by Greensburg's Mr. Image, Mayor Marsh, soon anyway. Washington Township needs a new Trustee who actually cares about the people they serve. One who chooses not to marginalize, degrade, and mock the poor. One who doesn't openly support a person saying in her posts' comments that poor, disabled, mentally ill people need to be sterilized? Beverly Rivera's post from the Washington Township Office, Decatur County Trustee official Facebook page: Washington Township Office, Decatur County This isn't a post I expect to be well received, but still necessary. Our office has been getting extremely large requests for rental and utility assistance. It is very important for the public to know a few things so here we go. 1. Your bills are your responsibility. No agency or individual is responsible - you are. If you are struggling and getting behind, you must seek help right away. DO NOT wait months or it will be impossible to get help. 2. We only have a certain amount of money given to us by the state each year in our budget. We work within that budget. 3. The revenue in our office comes from taxpayer money and we are given rules by the state to determine how we can disburse these funds. 4. Assistance funds are getting tighter or non-existent everywhere. You must know this, hear it, believe it and prepare for it! 5. Worth saying again -this is taxpayer money and it is our responsibility to spend it wisely and within the guidelines set forth by the state. 6. Spending your money on unnecessary items before you pay your necessities of life will most likely get you denied. You cannot spend your money on fun things, drugs, tobacco, alcohol, eating out, entertainment, travel, shopping, credit card payments, etc. and then expect the government to pay for you. 7. If you are not working but are able to, get a job and maybe even 2 jobs. A state code says every able-bodied adult must be working. 8. If you are not able to work and have a medical declaration saying so, you need to apply for disability or changing your living situation to live with someone who can help support you. Do not rely on programs always being available. Disability claims can take months, even years so you must do something to improve your situation. We cannot pay for months of your bills while you wait to see if you are approved or denied. 9. If you cannot make it on your own, get a roommate, move in with family, find a less expensive place to live - make good financial changes. We are very conservative in our office about the assistance given. If you do not qualify, you will not get the assistance. It's that simple. We look at the revenue of your household and all expenses. If you meet our guidelines and are not wasting your money, you may qualify. If you are looking at several thousand dollars of rent or utilities, you are probably going to need to figure it out. There are no state funds right now to pay large amounts. We can help you with budgets and setting up payment plans with your debtors. Keep this mind, share it with those you know who struggle and encourage them to ask for help earlier. Bottom line - be smart with your money. Pay your rent and utilities first. Car payment is necessary if used for work. There are plenty of food pantries and resources in town that you can use and save grocery money to pay some of your bills. Don't be afraid to reach out for help, but keep in mind you must be doing your part.
